Dark in night’s suffering shadow, do we bathe—
in our thoughts?
When we thrash about throwing bedspreads to the ground,
our bodies drenched in sweat from the suffocating heat—
do we suffer with our bedfellows?
Eyes open in the dark, blind without blindness,
deaf without sound, do our thoughts—flood us?
And do our selves, by day trapped under false skins—
consume us?
